Bethesda Game Studios has announced the roadmap for Fallout 76, with development scheduled to last until the summer of 2027. The next update, called World Pets, will be released in December 2026 and will allow you to travel to Appalachia with your CAMP pet. They will evolve with their master and gain new opportunities as they level up. They can also receive commands such as “Stop,” “Follow,” “Defend,” and “Attack.”
The same update will add a new activity in the form of bounty hunting in Skyrim Valley. The developer linked it to the story of the Blue Ridge Caravan Company, which was forced to cease operations in the area due to rising crime rates.
Shelters will appear in Appalachia in the spring of 2027. We’re talking about more complex enemy camps, designed primarily for the player base. The author positions them as an intermediate stage between the early endgame and raiding. The Vault will feature a new “marked” difficulty level designed for experienced teams and provide more valuable rewards. A new enemy called “The Drifter” will make finding rewards more complicated. He will compete with players for loot and attempt to eliminate bounty hunters. There are special rewards for defeating him.
The next major expansion will be Raven Rock. The map of “Fallout 76” will continue to move towards the capital wasteland familiar to players of “Fallout 3”. The new story will take place nearly 200 years before the events of the third part of the series, and will involve a confrontation between two Enclave operators. This update is scheduled to be released in 2027.
Over the next year, Bethesda will also improve seasonal events, graphics, weather, and new player training. Developers will continue to exploit fisheries and seasonal fish stocks. The announcement also mentions rumors about the golden salamander, which has been reported to have been found in Appalachian rivers.
