Huawei has launched its flagship smartphone Mate 90 Pro Max in China, featuring advanced photography features. Key features of the new products include a 20-megapixel periscope telephoto camera equipped with RYYB color filters, and a modular camera equipped with an inch sensor and a large lens designed for professional photography.

The developer equipped Mate 90 Pro Max with a 6.9-inch dual-layer OLED display that supports a resolution of 2848 × 1320 pixels, a variable screen refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz, and supports PWM backlight brightness control with a frequency of 1440 Hz. Using a panel with a peak brightness of 12,000 cd/m22 and BT.2020 color space coverage. The screen is protected from mechanical damage by Kunlun Glass, and the collector’s edition uses Kunlun Glass basalt glass.

The main camera uses a 1/1.28-inch 50 MP sensor that supports optical image stabilization and variable aperture (f/1.4-f/4.0). It also features a 40-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto module with a 1/1.28-inch sensor, optical stabilization, and RYYB color filters. The latest cameras support 4x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom. The three rear cameras also feature third-generation red maple models for improved color reproduction.
For selfies, there’s a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, along with a scene depth sensor.

The Mate 90 Pro Max Collector’s Edition is compatible with Huawei’s Ruiying Z10 modular camera. It adds a 1-inch RYYB sensor, 10x optical zoom, 24-240mm focal length range, and f/2.0-f/4.5 variable aperture. Smartphones support 4K video recording.
Mate 90 Pro Max’s performance is driven by the latest proprietary Kirin 9050 microprocessor. In the highest configuration, it also comes with 16 GB RAM. The 6800 mAh battery ensures autonomous operation and supports fast wired charging up to 100 W and wireless charging up to 50 W. The software platform uses HarmonyOS 7. Other features include Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 wireless modules, eSIM support, and IP68/P69-compliant internal component protection.

The retail price of the Mate 90 Pro Max starts at approximately $1,417 for the 12 GB RAM and 512 GB ROM version. The model with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB ROM is priced at approximately $1,492. The collector’s edition of the smartphone with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB ROM is priced at $1,640, while the model with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB ROM is priced at $1,940. The Ruiying Z10 modular camera is priced at approximately US$900, while the complete Mate 90 Pro Max package with modular camera and grip is priced at US$2,910.
