OpenAI continues to experiment with new chatbot features designed to make online purchases easier for users. The company announced the global launch of two new shopping-related features: virtual try-on of clothing and accessories and a favorites feature that lets you save your favorite items.

Developers of artificial intelligence assistants are actively exploring the application scenarios of technology in retail. ChatGPT previously had an instant checkout feature within the chatbot interface, but it didn’t live up to expectations. The new shopping feature builds on the recently released ChatGPT Images 2.5 model, which promises more natural lighting effects, higher texture detail, more accurate editing instructions, and faster image generation times.
To use the virtual fitting room, you need to upload a selfie or full-body photo to ChatGPT – a “Try On” button already appears in ChatGPT’s product search results. You can upload an image of a product, such as a screenshot of the page containing the product, and ask ChatGPT to “try it” on your image. One can describe a desired style and ask the AI to select items to create a suitable image; or upload a photo of a celebrity’s outfit and ask the chatbot to find items they are wearing that are available for purchase.
ChatGPT is beginning to expand into a space dominated by Pinterest and Google in recent years – as a source of inspiration and a platform for finding trendy solutions that can be converted into sales for online stores. Google launched a virtual fitting room last year – ChatGPT will have a hard time gaining users.
