The availability of the Korean company’s mid-range Galaxy A series of budget Android smartphones is now in question, considering they initially had higher suggested prices than their predecessors.
For the current new prices of Samsung Galaxy A series models in the United States, please see Phonearena Source:
- Galaxy A57 5G (256 GB) – $679.99 (previously $609.99);
- Galaxy A57 5G (128 GB) – $599.99 (previously $549.99);
- Galaxy A37 5G (256 GB) – $609.99 (was $539.99);
- Galaxy A37 5G (128 GB) – $489.99 (was $449.99);
- Galaxy A27 5G (128 GB) – $379.99 (was $349.99);
- Galaxy A17 5G (128GB) – $269.99 (was $249.99).
Sources say Galaxy A17 5G price increase “Extraordinarily outrageous”although it seems that of the four devices mentioned above, this budget smartphone is the least affected.
On the other hand, it’s worth remembering that this smartphone was launched in the US in January, with a starting price of $199.99. A few months ago, the price quietly increased to $249.99. It now appears that Samsung is trying to “hide” the small $20 increase amid significant price increases for its Galaxy A37, A57 and S26 series devices. Apparently, the company hopes users won’t notice that the price of the brand’s cheapest smartphone in the US has increased by more than a third (35%) in just nine months since its launch.
