The developers of multiplayer action role-playing game ArcheAge Chronicles have released another article discussing how PvP will work. It is understood that special PvP channels will appear in the game, where players can fight freely, while standard channels will remain safe channels without the risk of being attacked by other users.
According to a representative from XLGAMES, the world of ArcheAge Chronicles will be divided into multiple channels, which are different versions of the same location. In a normal game, players cannot attack each other, while a PvP-oriented game is prone to any conflict except between members of the same group or guild. It is possible to switch between different versions via the Nui Statue, but this feature will take a short cooldown after changing channels.
In PvP channels, players will receive additional rewards for hunting monsters. Experience gained from killing creatures will be increased by 10-15%, as traveling through dangerous areas carries the risk of collision with other users. The developers emphasized that they are still adjusting the balance and do not want to turn PvP into a forced leveling method.
The creators of ArcheAge Chronicles explained that at the start of Early Access, they decided not to introduce a strictly defined PvP mode with a timeline and fixed objectives. Instead, they rely on conflict between players, where territorial battles, guild clashes, and unexpected encounters can all shape their own stories.
In an upcoming demo on Steam for the Games to Be festival, PvP channels will be open from the start. Players will be able to try out all four classes, each with two weapons, and test the combat system against other users. They’ll also be adding kill logs and PvP achievements, but they plan to release full ratings and victory rewards as part of a further update after the game launches.
We are exploring wider PvP mechanics in the future, including trade routes through dangerous areas and guilds competing for control of trading posts. These ideas are in the planning stages and are subject to change.
