Dan Houser, co-founder of Rockstar Games and former lead writer on the Grand Theft Auto series, said he made a conscious effort to avoid using any material from the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6. In a recent interview, he explained that he didn’t want to be distracted by his own projects or fill his head with thoughts about what he would do if he replaced his former colleagues. Houser noted that he rarely launches games in the open world, preferring to focus on finding new approaches and innovative solutions for new IPs.

Now, his new studio, Absurd Ventures, is actively working on a number of multimedia projects, including two video games. The first is a comedy sandbox, a deep memory exploration of the characters, details of which will emerge in the coming months. The second project is described as a dystopian fantasy about failed developers and artificial intelligence gaining self-awareness. Hauser emphasized that he’s honored by his past, but now intends to prove the team’s ability to create innovative stories in an entirely new universe.
