Separately, it was reported that SpaceX expects to attract bank loans and funds through investment-grade debt to purchase equipment for $10 billion and $30 billion, respectively. Apollo is expected to lead the deal and help place the debt. Completion of the transaction is scheduled for 2027.
Also recently, Elon Musk confirmed that the company had held talks with Taiwan’s TSMC regarding a TeraFab megafactory project in Grimes County in Texas. Musk said in early October that SpaceX would build and operate the facility, and TSMC might lease some of the factory’s capacity if it wanted, “but nothing beyond that.”
SpaceX intends to invest $16.8 billion in the construction of the factory. In August 2026, Musk stated that upon completion of construction, the factory will become the “largest and most valuable” building on Earth. According to him, when completed, the building will be 50 times larger than the Pentagon. Earlier this year, NVIDIA became TSMC’s largest customer, surpassing Apple.
