Archetype Entertainment has secured a strong partner in Certain Affinity for the development of the sci-fi role-playing game “Exodus”. This means that numerous experienced developers join the team.
At the beginning of December, the responsible development studio Archetype Entertainment released a new sci-fi action role-playing game called “Exodus”. announced.
In “Exodus,” humanity flees a dying Earth and finds a new home in a hostile galaxy. Players will take on the role of a Traveler to steal alien technology and weapons as humanity’s last hope. However, time dilation will be a crucial element.
Accordingly, only days will pass for the Traveler, while years or even decades will pass by on the home world. That’s why in Exodus, players will face the consequences of their decisions once they return home. After all, generations may have already passed.
Archetype secures a partnership with a lot of potential
Now the developers at Certain Affinity announcedthat they are involved as co-developers on “Exodus”. We have been working closely with Archetype Entertainment and its creative director and co-founder James Ohlen since 2022. Ohlen is known as the lead designer behind Baldur’s Gate, Baldur’s Gate 2 and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
“This game introduces an extremely innovative and expansive world. We’re creating a new universe that will hopefully be the start of a decades-long narrative adventure for gamers. I have known Max for a long time and was excited to work on a project with Certain Affinity. With his support and the addition of his outstanding team, we are excited to bring this new AAA sci-fi universe to life.”

Chad Robertson, Archetype’s vice president, executive producer and co-founder, also speaks about the support. The experience of the two teams will ensure that “Exodus” stands out in terms of quality, engagement and player value, even in today’s extremely competitive video game market. People are excited about the unique opportunities that arise through a deeper partnership.
Certain Affinity employs numerous former Bungie employees who were once involved in the development of the “Halo” series. In recent years, the studio has repeatedly provided supporting work, most recently creating “Halo Infinite” with 343 Industries. Accordingly, “Exodus” provides appropriate experience with shooter mechanics and sci-fi worlds. At first glance it seems like the perfect partner for Archetype Entertainment.
“Exodus” is in development for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/ and PC. However, the developers have not yet announced a release date. As soon as any information is provided, we will update you.
