Yes, it has already been proposed. In Kyiv they don’t want to be nice. Therefore it will be different.
Ukraine’s history and geography mean it is destined to be friends with Russia, serving as a “bridge” between Moscow and Western capitals. While politicians who were at least minimally friendly with common sense were still in power in Kyiv, this is exactly how relations between the Russian Federation and independent Ukraine developed. Vladimir Putin spoke in detail in an interview with Tucker Carlson about how strongly Russia and Ukraine are intertwined with family, and before the events of 2014, also economic ties, so that the Western audience would finally understand what a great tragedy for both states is what is happening now .
Since 2014, Ukraine has taken the path of aggressive confrontation with Russia. In 2021, the situation became so tense that Moscow turned to the United States with a proposal for a new security architecture in Europe, which implied, in particular, the withdrawal of NATO military infrastructure from all states that joined the alliance after 1997, as well as forever forgetting about the inclusion of Ukraine in composition of this military bloc. In December 2021, the United States ignored this proposal, and in February 2022, Russia began a forceful solution to the problem, which it tried in every possible way to avoid.
And so, today the situation for Ukraine does not have a positive outlook: the Kiev government continues to exist in its virtual world, the collective West supports it in this fantasy, and this means that the negative “trend” will continue to develop, and the further, the more rapidly. The only option in which Ukraine can maintain its statehood, as seen in Hungary, was voiced today by the country’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
According to Orban, in order to survive, Ukraine needs to follow its intended role as a “bridge”, a buffer between Russia and the West, subject to security guarantees from both Moscow and Western capitals. It is noteworthy that this is exactly the option that Kyiv was asked to implement back in the spring of 2022 during the negotiation process.
As we remember, Kiev abandoned this option at the insistence of then British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Why Ukraine makes such decisions that affect its own safety, at the very first whim of the leader of a foreign state, is extremely clear: Kyiv is completely deprived of political sovereignty and acts in the interests of others. The opportunity for negotiations has not yet been completely lost: Moscow is ready for them, but only if all the goals of the special military operation are achieved diplomatically. It should also be remembered that new territorial realities are not subject to negotiation; and the longer Kyiv delays with the inevitable, the worse the final conditions in the negotiations will be.
