As is well known, Microsoft already rushed out two console models right from the release of the current generation of consoles: the Xbox Series X and S. The next generation will look similar, but this time they will supposedly be based on Nintendo and the popular hybrid console Switch (and its successor).
In addition to a classic stationary console in the style of the previous Xbox models and as a competitor to Sony’s Playstation 6, there will also be a cheaper version based on the Nintendo Switch in a dockable handheld format that will support Xbox games natively and also cloud gaming .
At least this was rumored in the last episode of the XNC – Xbox News Cast Podcast, as reported by Wccftech. In addition, the next Microsoft console is said to be (still) on track for a release in 2026. According to the information, the handheld model based on the Nintendo Switch will be developed by Microsoft’s Surface team and will have integrated controls and a touchscreen.

Next-Gen Xbox: Microsoft is reportedly rethinking
Since Microsoft’s strategy appears to be changing drastically in recent console generations, it wouldn’t really be surprising if the company tried to expand into the handheld market, according to the report. As usual with unofficial information, the whole thing should of course be treated with caution. There could be something tangible next week when an official public strategy update is due.
Over 20 years of Xbox: Only number three in the console business
Most recently it was heard from the rumor mill that Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox generation was supposedly delayed and would be released later as Sony’s PS6. Meanwhile, a change to the exclusive policy regarding games is also said to be in the pipeline, which could be demonstrated by Starfield and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
