An electric bike designed for long rides
The Decathlon Riverside 540 E is an electric bike designed for performance, but also comfort. Firstly, its aluminum chassis is rather light with a weight of 21.5 kg (battery included) and pleasant to drive. With handlebars and saddle raised almost to the same level, it offers a sportier position and does not offer as much comfort as a Dutch frame for everyday city trips. However, its Saddle Royal saddle and fork with 63 mm travel make riding pleasant on flat terrain as well as less paved and wilder terrain.
When it comes to equipment, Decathlon was a little stingy with its Riverside 540 E. There are no lights, no mudguards or luggage racks. Some of these elements can be added later, but we see that this frame is more designed for occasional walks. There is an LCD screen which displays information relating to driving (speed, remaining autonomy, etc.) with the possibility of connecting to the E-TUBE application in order to have access to more advanced parameters to better prepare for your cycling trips. .
A maximum range of 120 km!
The Decathlon Riverside 540 E has a Shimano Steps E6100 motor, 20% lighter and more efficient than the old model, and above all it is silent. Thanks to its torque of 60 Nm, it can overcome slopes without forcing and even tackle the steepest slopes. With a Shimano Deore 10-speed drivetrain, the ride is smooth and there is no need to exert effort. As for braking, we can count on powerful and responsive 160mm Tektro TKD hydraulic disc brakes.
Finally, the Riverside 540 E benefits from more than adequate autonomy. Even if its 418 Wh battery is not the largest on the market, it allows it to enjoy an average range of 90 km. This figure can rise to 120 km in ideal conditions (eco mode, flat terrain, good weather, driver in the medium weight category). The battery could certainly have gained with a better capacity, but this would have compromised the lightness of the VAE. As for recharge time, it only takes three hours to refuel.
