The Blizzard team plans to launch the next season of Overwatch 2 tomorrow, February 13th. Season 9 will introduce a large number of changes to balance, competitive mode, add a new battle pass and much more. As the project developers reported on the Overwatch 2 community forum, players will need to download an update of almost 40 GB.
An Overwatch community manager revealed that the game will be “rebased” with the Season 9 update, and this will require downloading a large patch:
This patch will also be a “rebase” patch and will require a very large data load for all players on all platforms. Rebase patches merge all of our patches into the main game, which in the long run preserves the finite data size of the game client, both on PC and consoles
When upgrading, you will need up to 38 GB of free space on your system. If you don’t have enough space, you can also uninstall the game client and reinstall it completely when the update goes live on February 13th.
Season 9 of Overwatch 2 should begin at 22:00 Moscow time on February 13.
