The near future probably doesn’t look quite as rosy for the PlayStation group as perhaps previously hoped. The latest news from Sony Interactive Entertainment may bury some hopes for certain blockbuster games for the PS5. Very few fans would have actually expected this. We grasp it the most important details for you together.
Bad PlayStation news from Sony
Sony Interactive Entertainment recently presented its current annual report. It’s not just about the pure numbers, but also an outlook on the near future of PlayStation consoles. A statement from… stands out in particular Sony-Präsident Hiroki Totoki in the eye, which will certainly disappoint many fans. It’s about the possible release of major first party games already established brands.
“Although there are several major projects in development, we do not currently plan to release new titles from existing major franchises such as God of War Ragnarök and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in the next fiscal year.”
Sony’s next fiscal year begins on April 1, 2024 and runs until March 31, 2025. Accordingly, no game from the brands listed above will be released for the PS5 (buy now for €611.18) before next spring. At least with Spider-Man, this is no longer a big surprise after the big Insomniac leak.
Other well-known franchises are also affected. So no new releases from brands like Gran Turismo, Horizon and Ratchet & Clank are to be expected – at least not before April 1, 2025.
