A AAA title at a ridiculous price? Normally such headlines would be read at Christmas time, for example during any Steam sales. Expensive top games from last year at a cheaper price certainly sound attractive to the ears of players, but a story from Great Britain is currently painting a different picture.
Finally, Immortals of Aveum (buy now €42.49) is currently available for shockingly cheap prices in the UK. However, the game’s price and story do not speak to a calculated move by Electronic Arts, but rather to the sad reality of the once highly anticipated title.
That’s how cheap Immortals of Aveum is
A photo from a British supermarket is currently making the rounds on Reddit. Video Games Chronicle not only picked up the photo itself, but also the price that can be seen there. So it seems the local ASDA is selling Immortals of Aveum for a single pound.
The website emphasizes that the supermarket chain tends to sell physical games quite cheaply. Before Christmas, the EA game cost around five pounds.

Developer fires almost half of his workforce after releasing his game with EA
Shortly after publisher EA released a major game, a development studio laid off almost half of all employees.

The studio’s CEO particularly cited the packed release year of 2023 as the reason for the title’s failure. As a result, around half of the employees were laid off.
