You can think whatever you want about Marvel. Until a few years ago, the superhero company stood for huge blockbusters with even bigger budgets that attracted viewers to the cinemas. And even today, the Marvel Cinematic Universe still has its fans, even if some of the more recent entries, such as The Marvels, didn’t really convince both viewers and critics. Things are completely different with one of the worst horror films of recent years, which was never good and currently has a glamorous Rotten Tomatoes score of 3%. And yet it should now receive the same treatment as the MCU and result in not only numerous sequels, but an entire horror universe. If that is a good idea?
This horror film is destined to become a huge franchise
Last year, the copyright for one of Disney’s most famous cartoon characters expired: We’re talking about Winnie the Pooh and his friends. And ambitious filmmakers promptly set about making a horror film out of the peaceful and child-friendly characters. The result is Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, which is currently considered one of the worst films on Rotten Tomatoes with an average rating of 3%.
But that apparently didn’t stop the makers from bringing a sequel to cinemas, which has already started in the USA and is also scheduled to be released in Germany. In an interview with SFX, the director of the film gave some interesting insights into the process of making the films and the plans for the future.

Old Disney characters are supposed to become a horror cinematic universe
In the interview, Rhys Frake-Waterfield appears confident and raves about dozens of new horror films that could be made with the well-known cartoon characters. The copyrights for characters like Bambi, Mickey Mouse and Pinocchio will also expire in the next few years.
“We’ll have to wait and see what people want. But we could do some really crazy things, like a crossover between Bambi and Winnie the Pooh. That could work really well. But I have to sit down and think about how crazy “It really should be. I mean, we could have a movie where Winnie the Pooh rides Bambi,” enthuses the director.
Director compares Winnie the Pooh to the MCU
The director’s plans are ambitious. And he also sees a lot of potential in a Marvel-like horror universe of animated characters: “When you do a sequel to a horror film like Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, you’re bound to be compared to the MCU, even though you might be 0 .01% of their budget”.

Film sequel to a Hollywood legend comes after 24 years – should be absolutely fantastic
After 24 years, this Hollywood legend is finally bringing a long-awaited sequel to the big screen.
Will this major streaming provider soon be scrapped?
One of the largest streaming services in the world could soon no longer exist in this form.
The first Winnie the Pooh horror flick only cost around $100,000, but made many times its budget. If this is also the case with further sequels, it is only understandable that a crazy idea would become an entire franchise. In addition to Frake-Waterfield, other filmmakers have also taken up the idea. Since the copyright for Mickey Mouse expired just a few months ago, a horror film based on the Disney mouse is also in the works.
