Yesterday at the publication People An interview took place with actor Russell Crowe, in which he shared some interesting stories from his life. The actor decided to talk a little about the filming of the film Robin Hood: according to him, it was one of the hardest filming times in his career. In particular, because of an incident that happened to him during filming:
“I had to jump from the castle railing onto the hard, uneven ground. We should have prepared and dug up the ground, but the crew was in a hurry to film the shot in the fading light. There were hundreds of extras around, flying arrows and burning pots setting the castle on fire, I couldn’t refuse. I remember that when I jumped, I thought: “This is going to hurt.”
Trying to land on the balls of my feet to ease the impact, I felt my heels hit the uneven ground first. It was like an electric shock running through my body.
We were filming a big film, so we had to deal with the pain, but the last month of work was very difficult. There were a few weeks when even just walking was a problem for me. I never discussed the injury with the producers, I never took a day off because of it, I just continued to do my job.” – said the actor
He learned that the actor had broken both legs at that moment only 10 years later, when he decided to visit a doctor because of pain in his legs: the doctor told the actor that in fact he had traces of long-healed fractures.
“It looks like I finished the film with two broken legs. All for the sake of art. No casts, splints or painkillers. I just worked and it healed itself over time.” – the actor summed up
However, filming Robin Hood did not pass without a trace for the actor – after it he took a two-year break from his acting career.
