Android users have many options when it comes to smartwatches, but there is always room for more competition. OnePlus is rumored to launch a new smartwatch at MWC 2024, presumably called the OnePlus Watch 2, and the company has finally started to lift the veil on the product.
OnePlus Watch 2 wants to compete with the Galaxy Watch 6
OnePlus published a teaser in the OnePlus community, asking users to guess what the product is. You can see the teaser image below and it's actually easy to see what it's about.
The teaser is in perfect line with the images that hit the Internet of the OnePlus Watch 2. The buttons are a great example of this. You can see the renders that hit the internet last year, showing the protruding edge on the right side of the device.
Obviously, the official teaser image still looks more interesting than the others. But the images that hit the Internet earlier at least give a good look at the device, which is expected to arrive at MWC 2024, scheduled for the end of this month.
The original OnePlus Watch, released in 2021, was a more simplistic fitness system with a big screen rather than a smartwatch. It's just that it didn't have an intelligent operating system with an application store. It ran on a proprietary operating system that is comparable to RTOS. With the OnePlus Watch 2, OnePlus is expected to use Wear OS for a proper smartwatch experience that compares to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 and Pixel Watch 2. That's assuming it sells in the same markets. The watch is expected to come with the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chip.
Competition is always welcome
The first model did not win over users. However, OnePlus will not make the same mistake and that is why it wants to make the OnePlus Watch 2 a true competitor to the Galaxy Watch 6.
