Sony PlayStation conducted an interview with Naoki Hamaguchi. The “Final Fantasy VII Rebirth” director answered several questions here regarding the PS5 features in the upcoming action role-playing game.
“Final Fantasy VII Rebirth” is initially only being released for the PS5. Therefore, the developers were able to fully focus on the performance and functions of the Sony console.
New primitive shader for faster rendering
To give the feeling of a lively map, the developers designed the rendering pipeline to render as many elements as possible. The SSD is a huge advantage. The player can therefore look forward to a “beautiful, varied and expansive world”.
All main characters have been completely redesigned. You will notice this when you look at her hair structure and skin in close-ups. In general, improved modeling, textures, lighting, shading and animations can be expected. The “Final Fantasy VII Remake” should be far surpassed.
Why did the team choose two display modes? The answer is simple: Such two modes have become a trend, which is why Square Enix is relying on them.
The DualSense functions are used in all mini-games. There should be quite a few of them this time.
A photo mode is again on board. What's new here is a photo frame that you can choose from anywhere. The photo-loving Snaps also asks you to take pictures of different places. If you do this, you will unlock further functions of the photo mode.
Cities maximize the PS5 performance
The cities in particular are said to have maxed out the PS5's hardware. Here you can see a large number of NPCs, and the resource density is extremely high.
Hamaguchi said: “We put a lot of emphasis on making the NPCs in the city feel alive, and I think you can fully experience the capabilities of the PS5 console as you walk through the streets goes. Personally, I love how the city of Junon is portrayed during the inauguration parade of President Rufus, and I hope you can experience this moment for yourself in the game.”
Incidentally, the demo update came out today, making a new area playable.
The Standard Edition of “Final Fantasy VII Rebirth” costs in the PS Store 79,99 Euro. In return you get a generous amount of 40 to 100 hours.
