Samsung announced an avalanche of new features for its wireless headphones in a blog post published this Tuesday. The Korean manufacturer has in fact unveiled new features for its high-end Galaxy Buds 2 Pro headphones as well as for the Galaxy Buds 2 or its most recent – and most accessible – models, the Galaxy Buds FE.
In detail, the new features for headphones improve not only the connectivity of the headphones, but also the features offered. The first of these features, already announced last week for Indian users, concerns instant translation on the Galaxy Buds headphones. Samsung recalls that this new feature will allow owners of Galaxy Buds and Galaxy S24 headphones to benefit from real-time translation of in-person conversations: “You can listen to the translation in your headphones while the person hears through the speaker from your smartphone, to help you focus on the conversation and eliminate the need to exchange the smartphone.
This function will however be limited to users of Galaxy Buds headphones who also own a smartphone from the Galaxy S24 range.
The ability to connect multiple pairs of headphones to a smartphone
In addition, the earphone update also brings compatibility with the Auracast protocol. As a reminder, this functionality, linked to the Bluetooth LE Audio standard, will allow several pairs of headphones, headsets, or Bluetooth speakers to be connected to the same source. Concretely, it will be possible to use your own headphones in museums as an audio guide, but also to listen to the same music together from a smartphone. Samsung also recalls that its televisions have benefited from the Auracast function since last year and that several people can therefore listen to the sound of the television from several pairs of headphones. This will now also be possible on smartphones and tablets.
Another new feature related to televisions is 360-degree audio. Galaxy Buds headphones can now use this spatialization function directly from their headphones connected to a Samsung TV for more immersion in their films and TV series.
Finally, the last new feature concerns automatic failover. With this update, Galaxy Buds can automatically switch between the sound of a Samsung TV or laptop and the smartphone when a call is received. A function which is reminiscent of what Google offers with its Google Fast Pair protocol, or Apple with its own AirPods.
These new features will be deployed from the end of February to all users of Galaxy Buds 2, Galaxy Buds 2 Pro and Galaxy Buds FE headphones.
