An artificial intelligence (AI) tool with the potential to be very useful. Adobe has launched a new AI assistant with several features, including the ability to summarize large PDFs.
However, this new tool goes further as it is an AI-powered generative conversation engine. In addition to being able to assist in document synthesis, the new assistant is also capable of answering questions about the content of a specific PDF.

AI Assistant will be deeply integrated into Reader and Acrobat workflows. This way, the tool can generate summaries and insights, in addition to formatting the desired information.
In an interview with CNBC's Squawk on the Street, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen gave the following example.
“Imagine you opened a 100-page document. You want to understand the summary, you want to talk to him, you want to ask questions. You want to correlate that with other documents you may have, as well as with all the information you have in your company”, said the CEO , highlighting that the new technology will “democratize access” to the billions of PDFs that exist.

AI Assistant is Adobe's first step towards transforming experiences with AI
According to Adobe, its new AI is now available in the beta version of Acrobat and should arrive in Reader in the coming days or weeks. After this testing phase, the new assistant will be available on a subscription plan.
AI Assistant is built on the same AI and machine learning models behind Acrobat Liquid Mode, Adobe's award-winning technology that supports responsive reading experiences for PDFs on mobile devices.
“Generative AI offers the promise of smarter document experiences by transforming the information contained in PDFs into professional-looking, knowledgeable, actionable content. PDF is the standard for the world's most important documents. The features introduced today are just the beginning of the value that AI Assistant will deliver through Reader and Acrobat apps and services,” said Abhigyan Modi, senior vice president, Document Cloud, during the announcement.
