The Cowboy electric bike catalog includes, since 2024, no less than nine possible configurations. Here is our complete explanatory guide to better understand it. Find out which Cowboy electric bike suits your needs.
Which Cowboy electric bike to choose?
Cowboy is still a very young brand, compared to other electric bike players. Born in 2017 in Belgium, it offers high-end, urban e-bikes with a refined design, and connected via an application. These are the equivalent of a Tesla for cycling, inspired by the Dutch Vanmoof.
Over the years, its offering has expanded, evolved and even changed its name in July 2023 to better structure the catalog. No more numbered models, make way for a more understandable nomenclature with the Classic, ST Cruiser and Cruiser. In addition to that, three configurations were invited to the party (Core, Core Connect or Performance).
This explanatory guide aims to enlighten you and guide you in your choice, as well as to better understand the Cowboy catalog according to your desires and needs. You will be able to find the Cowboy electric bike that suits you in the online store.

Clean style Sporty position Dynamic driving Available at €2,990 on Cowboy
This Cowboy Classic is the brand's original bike, the one that has lasted since the first generation of 2018. Its evolution is the Cowboy 2 (2019) with the start of exports outside Belgium, then the Cowboy 3 bringing an ST in 2020, and the most torquey Cowboy 4 (45 Nm vs 30 Nm) with its new stem-handlebar duo in 2021.
With its sleek style integrating the cables – even the brakes – and showing no welding, the original Cowboy 4 is a beautiful design object. Here, in its renamed Classic version, it is the most sporty thanks to its closed frame, which pushes you to adopt a so-called active position, carried forward.

This model targets cycling purists who like dynamic driving and ignore comfort. The Cowboy Classic Cruiser is recognizable by its narrow, straight handlebars, low stem and firm saddle.

A fine design More upright posture Efficient and responsive Available at €2,990 on Cowboy
Tall frame, short handlebars and firm saddle, the Classic is not an e-bike for everyone. However, the 2020 Cowboy 3 was launched with a second version, the “ST”, also available on the Cowboy 4. The Cowboy 4 ST was therefore born, which has since become the Cowboy ST Cruiser.

Meaning “Step Through”, this variation, whose frame has no top bar, appeals to all kinds of profiles. Making it easier to step over, it is also much more comfortable with a more padded and wider saddle, a more upright riding position thanks to the high stem and a curved handlebar. It shares this with the Cruiser, but the Cowboy ST Cruiser is the only one with an open frame.
As beautiful as its cousins Comfortable posture Good autonomy Available at €2,990 on Cowboy
For those who aren't fans of the Classic's steeply leaned stance, Cowboy introduced the Cruiser in July 2023. Yes, its frame is identical as are its wheels, mudguards, engine and transmission. What changes is comfort, in order to offer the same bike, but usable by the less sporty among you.
For this, the Belgian electric bike adopts the more curved and wider handlebars of the ST Cruiser, mounted on a raised stem. As a result, the arms are higher and the cyclist rides with a more upright position.

The saddle, very firm on the Classic, is more padded here and therefore more comfortable, also accepting more weight (because the body rests more on it). Thus, the Cowboy Cruiser is a more comfortable version, suitable for everyday journeys, without sacrificing the style of the Classic's high frame.
Core: a simpler and cheaper configuration
Before summer 2023, it was enough to simply choose your Cowboy model. Today, you now need to configure it.
Cowboy has brought three variations for each of its electric bikes: Core, Core Connect and Performance. To be precise, the Performance corresponds to the original Cowboy, while the Core relies on stripped-down equipment and more limited software functions.
They nevertheless share many elements: the 45 Nm rear motor, the removable 360 Wh battery offering around 60 km of autonomy, the frame, the crankset, the saddle, the 27.5 inch wheels, 47 mm tires wide, integrated lighting, mudguards and kickstand.

The Cowboy Core is the entry level: it includes a chain transmission, unlike the carbon belt of the Cowboy Performance. A cheaper solution, but also heavier, dirtier (grease), requiring more maintenance and with a shorter lifespan. On the other hand, no derailleur is included: the Core retains a single-speed transmission as with the belt.
If the motor is the same for all electric bikes, the Cowboy Core does away with the AdaptivePower function of the Performance. Appearing in spring 2023, it helps level the effort, whether uphill or in windy conditions for example. The battery charger is also slower (3 amps compared to 4), i.e. 3h20 for a full charge, compared to 2h40.
Performance: the most connected and complete version
The Performance stem is slightly different from the Core. On the latter, no induction charging is offered. Unlike the Performance model, which can recharge your smartphone from the Quadlock holder during a journey.

Another fundamental difference: the Performance inherits the entire connected universe of the brand. If the Core can use the computer, the GPS “Find my Bike” function, the Social Fitness part or even Google Maps, the Performance adds multiple other functions:
Google Maps “Clean air” routes based on traffic or air quality; Predictive alerts, including dangerous intersections, changing air quality or battery; “Share My Ride” to share your location with a loved one; Fall detection with sending a notification to your loved ones; Analysis of journeys with speeds, durations, engine/human power, depending on location; Apple Watch compatibility, via the Health application as well as Strava; The famous Adaptive Power.
In order to take advantage of all the aforementioned functions without purchasing the Performance version, but keeping the Core iteration, a “Connect” pack at 300 euros is available as an option. We can therefore talk about the Core Connect version here.
Finally, be aware that the choice of color is only possible on the Performance (clay, fig, lavender, and sand), with the Core only available in black, even with a Connect pack.
The prices of the Cowboy Classic and Cruiser, in Core or Performance
The Classic, Cruiser and ST Cruiser versions all cost the same price of 2490 euros. Electric bikes therefore vary depending on the Core, Core Connect and Performance versions. The Cowboy Core starts at 2,490 euros, the Core Connect pack goes up to 2,790 euros, while the Performance is 3,290 euros. The increase in the price of the most exclusive of the variants took place on August 1, 2023 (+ 300 euros). We might as well tell you straight away, there is no Cowboy model likely to be included in our selection of the best electric bikes for less than 1000 euros.

Here is a summary of the prices of the Cowboy Classic, ST Cruiser and Cruiser depending on their configuration:
Core : 2 490 euros ;
Core Connect : 2 790 euros ;
Performance : 3 290 euros.
It is possible to add options, such as the rear luggage rack (27 kg load) at 49 euros and the trailer adapter at 20 euros. Other products are available and can be ordered after your purchase: child seat, anti-theft device, helmet, pump or cleaning kit.
Finally, please note that ordering a Cowboy is only possible via the official website. Two stores in Paris (the official one) and Lille allow you to try it before purchasing (but not to buy it on site). The brand also announced that a network of resellers would gradually be set up throughout France, for testing and after-sales service management (Strasbourg, Lyon, Lille, Marseille).

Where are Cowboy bikes made?
Originally, the Belgian start-up Cowboy had the frames of its electric bikes manufactured in China. Then, the whole thing is assembled in Europe while the electronics are made in Belgium. As mentioned above, distribution is only done online.
