The authors of the action game Rise of the Ronin shared a new video. If earlier they talked about the historicity and creation of the game world, now they dedicated the video to the combat system. The upcoming new product itself will be released on March 22 only on PlayStation 5.
Authors from Team Ninja wanted to continue the legacy Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden using the advanced melee mechanics in Rise of the Ronin. Moreover, in battles you will have to use not only edged weapons, but also historical-style gunpowder firearms. To become a master, you will also have to learn new skills and fighting styles.
Basic combat strategy involves striking quickly and defending against enemy attacks. By exhausting an enemy who loses energy, you can deal critical damage. It is also necessary to monitor your energy, because if it is depleted, you will not be able to fight or even run away.
In battles with larger opponents you will have to use tricks. Their attacks are best parried, and with the help of various skills you can quickly wear down your opponents so that they become open to critical attacks. The counter-attack will also stun the enemy and give him time to maneuver.
Each type of melee weapon has its own types of attacks and movements. You can master new fighting styles and improve your fighting skills with different weapons as you meet different characters in the world of Rise of the Ronin. It will be possible to switch between three styles, each of which may be suitable for defeating a specific opponent.
One of the styles will be universal and suitable for different situations. The second fencing style will help you perform a series of attacks, and the last style is based on real military skill. Nine types of weapons will be available to fight enemies, including double blades, several types of swords, including an odachi (Japanese long sword).
Among ranged weapons, the authors noted both noisy pistols and quiet bows. Fire tubes will be available for breathing flames and even a rope that can be used to pull enemies during battle.
Previously, developers from Team Ninja talked about the factions and characters in the game, and also demonstrated the combat system at the recent State of Play.
