Co-founder Gearbox and Borderlands co-creator Randy Pitchford was interviewed. One of the key topics was the upcoming film adaptation of the franchise called “Borderlands” It will be released on August 9 and has already received a trailer showing the main characters. Randy expects audiences to appreciate the story of family and loyalty.
Pitchford became the executive producer of the film. He stated that from the very beginning he did not want to make a retelling of existing games. The Borderlands cinematic universe “lives side by side” with the world of games, has the same characters and some storylines, but the story itself remains independent. The first film will lay the foundation for the Borderlands cinematic universe.
Viewers will be able to see characters from different games in the series, but the film will also bring something new to the Borderlands universe. For example, you might be able to meet the CEO of Atlas Corporation for the first time. Randy is also very excited about how the universe comes to life in real life through the sets. The producer was so emotional about the props that he took it with him so that the film studio could not destroy the scenery.
Pitchford also recalled the situation with choosing a costume for Moxie. He brought several famous cosplayers with him. Everyone was impressed with how Borderlands came to life in reality. And right now on Steam there is a 2K Games sale with discounts on Borderlands, but the promotion is not available to users from Russia.
