According to Reuters, US Senator Richard Blumenthal at a parliamentary meeting on Tuesday expressed concern about the ability of Russian defense companies to obtain semiconductor components of American origin in the face of US export restrictions.

The senator called on AMD, Intel, Texas Instruments and Analog Devices to more carefully monitor the supply routes of their products, which end up in the hands of Russian defense manufacturers in circumvention of US sanctions. The data available to American parliamentarians suggests that a number of third countries have significantly increased imports of electronics products since the start of the CBO. It is assumed that in the future it will end up in Russia.
However, among American parliamentarians there were also supporters of the idea that sanctions against Russia are pointless. Senator Ron Johnson, for example, explained that “if you close one hole, another one will appear.” Intel representatives explained that the company's contracts with customers imply restrictions on the supply of products to countries that are under US sanctions. The manufacturer tries to monitor all cases of violation of these obligations. AMD welcomes collaboration with various organizations to monitor its supply chain. Texas Instruments said it spends enormous amounts of time and resources overseeing logistics.
