Gearbox Entertainment will “flee” from Embracer Group next month: a sales agreement similar to the one Saber Interactive has had will be announced.
Saber Interactive is not the only studio that will flee from the clutches of Embracer Groupthe terribly unpopular Swedish holding company that bought and bought video game companies non-stop after the pandemic only to tear them apart when they lost a $2 billion Saudi dollar injection.
Gearbox Entertainmentthe studio founded by Randy Pitchford known for his looter-shooter saga Borderlands, is very close to being sold by Embracer Group.
According to Kotaku, Gearbox contemplated three scenarios: remain with Embracer, be sold, or finance a purchase themselves to become independent. But they didn't want to stay in Embracer.

According to Kotaku sources, Pitchford told his employees this week that the decision had already been made about his future, which will be announced in Marchand that is sell.

Kotaku also reports that there have been some setbacks at Gearbox this year, and several exciting new franchise projects were canceled, or at least postponed, to focus on Borderlands 4 y Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands 2.
In the first two years that Embracer had Gearbox, since they were bought in 2021, Embracer grew Gearbox, buying Perfect World Entertainment and converting it into Gearbox Publishing.
They also put Volition, the Saints Row studio, under the Gearbox umbrella… only to shut down Volition altogether after the failure of the last Saints Row.
