The GPD Win Mini 2024 from the Chinese manufacturer Shenzhen GPD Technology is a tiny handheld notebook hybrid with a full QWERTY keyboard and integrated gamepads, based on an AMD Ryzen 7 8840U (“Hawk Point”) and a fast 7-inch FHD display with 120 Hz and support for AMD FreeSync and Variable Refresh Rate (“VRR”) technologies. In combination with up to 64 GiBytes of RAM, games should also be able to be adequately accelerated to 1080p.

The basis for the revamped GPD Win Mini 2024 is an AMD Ryzen 7 8840U with an integrated AMD Radeon 780M, which is equipped with 12 compute units and can rely on 768 RDNA 3 streaming processors (aka shader units) and optionally 16 , 32 or 64 GiByte LPDDR5 memory with 6,400 MT/s is supported. The mass storage used is an NVMe SSD with 512 GiB or four times the capacity (2 TiB), which is connected via PCIe 4.0 x4 and with transfer speeds of up to 5 GB/s.

The Chinese manufacturer also combines its handheld notebook hybrid with the in-house external graphics card (“eGPU”) from the GPD G1 series and also offers corresponding bundles, but more on that later in this report.

Otherwise, the GPD Win Mini is identical to its big brother, the GPD Win Max, except for the dimensions. However, the proportions shrink significantly from 227 x 160 x 23 mm to 167 x 108 x 23 mm.
