During the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth adventure you will be put to the test with challenges of increasing difficulty which will require not only greater awareness of the combat system and game dynamics, but also and above all the right equipment. In this regard, let's find out how to do it upgrade the various weapons of the protagonists.
The mechanics through which to improve the instruments of death wielded by party members is slightly different than what was seen in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. In the exclusive PlayStation 5, in fact, the weapons have a progression system that recalls that of the characters: the more you use a weapon on the field, the more you gain the experience necessary to increase its level. However, it should be clarified that the weapon level is universal for all those of a character. In short, changing Cloud's blade with the one you just found around the game world will not force you to start from scratch as you accumulate experience.
Depending on the weapon level reached with a certain character, you will be able to unlock permanent upgrades which will involve any weapon held. In addition to these universal boosts, the game also includes instrument-of-death-specific power-ups: each weapon has its own active abilitieseach equipped with a additional effect which is unlocked only after using the various skills a few times. The most interesting element of this mechanic concerns the fact that the bonus in question is unlocked permanently and can therefore also be used on other weapons.
In the weapon management screen, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth players can freely decide whether to manually select which skills to assign to the weapon or whether have the game take care of it automatically: simply press a button and all the slots will be used for the skills that the game deems most suitable for use in combat.
To keep track of the progress obtained with the use of each weapon skill, so as to unlock its upgrade, simply go to the Equipment and Materia menu. In any case, all the skills that have a white dot alongside the name are those that you have not yet mastered and which require further use to be brought to their maximum potential.
