Benoit Sokal is primarily known for the Syberia series, but even before that, the Belgian artist and designer made his mark with the quest Amerzone: The Explorer's Legacy – 25 years after its release, it will receive a full-fledged remake.
The Paris studio of the publishing house Microids is responsible for the development of the remake of Amerzone: The Explorer's Legacy – the updated version is called exactly the same as the original.
The Amerzone remake promises to re-engage players with “immersive storytelling and stunning graphics”, “ignite nostalgia and offer a fresh, captivating adventure.”
Amerzone takes place in the lost Latin American region of Amerzone, home to mythical white birds. Players will explore ruins, interact with colorful characters, and solve puzzles.
For the rethinking, they are preparing reworked riddles and some additional tests, faithful to the spirit of the original game and at the same time “enriched with new functions” scenario.
The release of the remake of Amerzone: The Explorer's Legacy is expected throughout the rest of 2024 in versions for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. A text translation into Russian has been announced.
The original Amerzone: The Explorer's Legacy is based on the comic by Sokal. The game was released in 1999, sold over 1 million copies (you can buy it on Russian Steam for 69 rubles until March 11) and formed the basis of Syberia.
