Hideaki Itsuno may have understated Dragon's Dogma 2's map size a bit.
That much was known that the map of Dragon's Dogma 2 would be large. But Hideaki Itsuno and his team may have understated the size a little. In an interview with Automaton-Media, Itsuno explained that they had always said that the map was about four times larger than its predecessor. The fact is, however, that it has never been measured and it is believed that it could be much larger. In any case, the number of villages would also have increased dramatically.
You'll be able to see for yourself how big the map actually is starting March 22nd, when Dragon's Dogma 2 is released for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
Until then, Itsuno promises that the game will include two large countries, each consisting of a large number of settlements. Instead of the size of the map, there would have been a lot more focus on making the map denser so that you don't have to spend too much time traveling through empty landscapes.
In any case, there seems to be a lot to discover.
