Asus continues to expand its line of BTF (Back To the Future) products designed to make modern gaming PCs more attractive in appearance and easier to assemble. For BTF motherboards, the main power connectors are moved to the reverse side, and for video cards, the traditional 12+4-pin 12VHPWR power connectors are replaced with special connectors. Now, in the BTF series, the company has introduced the new Z790 ROG Maximus BTF Hero board.
The Asus Z790 ROG Maximus BTF Hero board is equipped with the usual PCIe 5.0 x16 connector for the video card, as well as an additional PCIe power connector capable of transmitting up to 600 W of power to the BTF series graphics accelerator. You can also use regular video cards with the new product. In this case, additional power will be supplied to the card via a standard 12VHPWR cable.
The ROG Maximus Z790 Hero BTF board itself is a solution for enthusiasts. In fact, the new product is the Z790 Dark Hero motherboard, in which all connectors have been moved from their usual places to the rear side.
Like the original model, the ROG Maximus Z790 Hero BTF offers support for Wi-Fi 7, is equipped with Q-Code and Q-LED error indicators, and is based on a 23-phase VRM power subsystem with a 20+1+2 circuit and phases designed for current up to 90 A.
According to the VideoCardz portal, the ROG Maximus Z790 Hero BTF board was found at the French retailer LDLC, where it is offered for €799, which is €110 more expensive than the standard Z790 Dark Hero version.
