March 18, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. – Who would have thought that a “Pokémeon with weapons game” would be so successful? The Palworld developers have made so much money from the game that they are literally overwhelmed with all the money.
Until shortly before the release of the “Pokémon with weapons game” it was not entirely clear among players whether Palworld would really be the announced game or whether it was a fake. A short time later it turned out that Pocketpair's open-world survival crafting game was not fake and was already one of the biggest hits of 2024 in January.
After the first few weeks, Palworld recordedover 25 million players. As Pocketpair boss Takuro Mizobe recently revealed in an interview with Bloomberg, the Profits too high for a studio of their size. Despite the highs, there is no sense of hasty optimism at Pocketpair. According to Mizobe, there are no plans to expand or sell parts of the company as shares.

How much profit did Palworld make?
But how much is “too much”? Of course, the boss of Pocketpair didn't reveal exact figures. But that doesn't stop the Internet from making calculations.
What is known is that Palworld cost $6.7 million to develop has. By the end of February, the game was available on Steam and Xbox altogether 25 million copies sold. This number is probably slightly higher now, but the big hype is already over. Websites like dotesports.com have done some number games:

Palworld | OPINION | Where does inspiration end?
Because simply multiplying 25 million (number of units sold) by the purchase price ($29.99) makes no sense. When calculating winning margins, one must remember that the game slightly discounted in the first week was ($26.99) that Steam initially retains 30 percent of sales and the game im Xbox Game Pass war.
Later, when games gross over $10 million, Steam's share drops to 25%, and further to 20% if the game generates more than $50 million.
According to dotesports.com's calculations, Pocketpair A good $164 million in profit made. This corresponds to the statements of Pocketpair boss Takuro Mizobe, who mentioned in an interview with Bloomberg that they have at least one double-digit billions in yen as profit has earned. Since $164 million is the equivalent of around 24 billion yen, that's okay. Even if Palworld no longer dominates the Steam charts as it did in January and February, this number is likely to have increased further. What do you think the studio will do with the money?
