Bandai Namco has decided to give a great gift to Dragon Ball fans, revealing not only a new trailer for Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERObut also a gameplay showcase where some of the peculiarities that we will find within the game are illustrated. The burden of presentation fell to Jun Furutani, producer di Dragon Ball Sparking ZERO. What Furutani shows is what a Budokai Tenkaichi lover could hope for. Sparking Zero confirms itself as its direct successor and will resume all the mechanics and soul that made the Sparking series great, however enhancing some aspects to make the clashes not only more strategic, but also more beautiful to look at. More “Dragon Ball-like”, quoting Furutani's words.
Dragon Ball Sparking ZERO is Budokai Tenkaichi to the nth degree and with new additions
Some mechanics seen in previous games return, with even the same movesets (obviously refined) and transformations and clashes between waves obviously return. The latter, in particular, will make all gamers happy, given that now the clashes they will no longer be decided by how fast you rotate the analog stick, but rather by pressing the Triangle or Y button (on Xbox). A really good choice, considering how much today's pad sticks love to drift.
The fights also promise to be very long. Goku and Vegeta have four life bars, which allows the fight to last a few minutes. During the battle, we will devastate the entire scenario and there is apparently also a variable weather system present. However, there is no shortage of changes aimed at making the video game more strategic. The movement system has now been improved thanks to the introduction of a short dash which allows you to move quickly in a limited area. Through the short dash we will be able to dodge attacks or even use it to attack with surprise blows, both physical and energetic.
Obviously the combos and the consecutive attack counter returnbut this time with a difference: each attack will generate skill points called 'Skill Counter' which will recharge a specific bar and allow unique abilities. The first, more spectacular, is the possibility of deflect energy shots like a Kamehameha or a Galick Gun, as long as you get the timing right. Otherwise, your character will be hit and his clothes will be destroyed. If we wanted, we could too decide to take an opponent's blow with the “Revenge Counter”, but send everything back to the sender with interest.
