The new Noctua NH-D12L Chromax.Black, the all-black version of the regular Noctua NH-D12L introduced around two years ago, is particularly notable for its low height compared to other CPU coolers in this performance class. The 120 mm double tower also comes with an all-black “exterior” and a comparably high price.

The CPU cooler, which measures 145 × 125 × 113 mm (H × W × D) and weighs 700 grams, weighs exactly 890 grams including the two in-house fans from the Noctua NF-A12x25R PWM series, which are also in black, and offers the same technical specifications like its beige brother. This feature set also reads as follows for the Noctua NH-D12L Chromax.Black.
Source: Noctua Like the Noctua NH-D12L, the Chromax.Black version only has one fan positioned in the middle between the two cooling towers, which has a diameter of 120 mm and is slowed down via the Low-Noise Adapter (“LNA”) so that it can be calmed down a little further. The noise level in normal operation is a maximum of 22.6 dB(A), but when “turned down” it is a maximum of 18.8 dB(A).
Source: Noctua The Noctua NH-D12L Chromax.Black is aimed at friends of completely black PC builds who want to use a particularly high-quality double-tower cooler with a maximum height of 145 mm. But, as already mentioned, this has its price and should therefore be carefully considered.
Source: Noctua The Noctua NH-D12L Chromax.Black is now available through Amazon for 109.90 euros and will soon be made available through other retailers. This means that the CPU cooler, which comes with a 6-year guarantee, costs another 10 euros more than its beige brother, which retails for 99.90 euros. Its website provides further information.
