Stardew Valley has received a major update. Version 1.6 took the game's popularity to amazing heights within just 24 hours of its release on PC. The cozy farming sim reached 146,159 concurrent players on Steam, breaking the game's previous record, according to SteamDB.
Stardew Valley's previous high for concurrent players on Steam was reached back in January 2021, shortly after the release of update 1.5. Then the game attracted the attention of 94,875 users. Interestingly, the new record is also higher than the number of concurrent players for the new popular game Palworld, demonstrated over the past week. This is quite an impressive result for an indie RPG almost ten years old. Developer Eric “Concerned Ape” Barone revealed some content from the new 1.6 update on X ahead of the patch's release yesterday, which likely helped attract new and existing fans to the game.
Some of the most exciting new features in Stardew Valley 1.6 include a large new Meadowlands farm optimized for animal breeding, the ability to move the farm to a new location, new pets (including turtles and new cat/dog breeds) and support for multiple pets, as well as quite a few new NPC with dialogues. The developer also prepared a few surprises – he did not add some new features in the release notes for Stardew Valley 1.6. Therefore, these surprises can only be discovered during the game.
Stardew Valley update 1.6 is currently available on Steam and GOG. Patch 1.6.1 has also already been released to fix several bugs. However, the developer has not announced when the update will be ready for consoles and mobile devices. The Stardew Valley game is currently on sale at a discount price of $11.99 (183 UAH on Steam).
