In addition to the blockbusters from Marvel and company, in 2024 one of the most enigmatic and anticipated science fiction films in recent years will be released: Megalopolis. The film, directed and produced entirely by Francis Ford Coppola, will be released this year with a cast full of stars, and with Adam Driver as the protagonist.
Although little is known about the film, the actor assured in an interview with The Face that his next film is something indefinable. Furthermore, he revealed that this is a wild, large-scale production and that his director has created something truly unique.
“It's something indefinable, which seems very general until you see the movie. Then my answer will be perfect. There's not much precedent and it's wild on a grand scale, which is what really makes it unique. He's a visionary. He's a lot like Francis [Ford Coppola], in a way, where you have researched all the ways to do something and try not to get stuck on the right answer. It is an idea that moves me and that reflects Francis.”
Megalopolis It has been Coppola's dream film for more than 40 years, but it wasn't until this year that he was able to make it happen. The reason? No production company dared to finance it, which led the director to invest practically all of his money to make the film that he had always wanted to make since practically the beginning of his career.
Megalopolis It transports us to a dystopian future and tells the story of an architect who has been entrusted with an ambitious project: rebuilding New York City to turn it into a utopia. After a chaotic shoot, production ended several months ago, and its goal is to premiere in 2024, although a specific date has not yet been announced.
