Bungie is said to have discontinued the game called Matter in 2020.
Development of Matter has reportedly been stopped. And that already in 2020! That's what sources tell IGN.
Bungie registered the new trademark in 2018. Little was known about what lies behind the name. Back then we reported on Matter as a role-playing game with necromancers and dungeons.
With “Gummy Bears”, Bungie is said to have worked on a similar project, but it takes a slightly different direction. We reported on the game in August. The MOBA-like title is currently in the “queue”, probably due to the current uncertainty among the developer.
Furthermore, management at Bungie could resign in the summer of 2026 once remaining payments from the takeover by SONY have been made. Bungie is said to be pushing to release Marathon by this time, which could be seen as an explanation for Joe Ziegler replacing Christopher Barrett as game director last year.
