Those of you who diligently follow emulator developments certainly already know the “result of the battle” between Nintendo and the Nintendo Switch emulator – Yuzu. Before he had time to go to court, the Yuzu emulator decided to take the peaceful route by paying millions of USD in compensation to Nintendo and simultaneously withdrawing from circulation on the internet. Above their “ashes”, stands a new emulator called SUYU which also immediately claims to be anti-piracy in the name of avoiding Nintendo's wrath in the future. Being open-source and available on sites such as GitHub and GitLab, SUYU also turns out to be a “target”.
Considered safe on GitHub, SUYU officially became a new target on a similar site – GitLab which was once his home. GitLab immediately deleted the SUYU page and disabled the account responsible for it. The reason? GitLab admitted that it received a DMCA Takedown request from a representative and therefore had to follow standard procedures afterwards. What's interesting? GitLab refused to provide any information regarding who sent the DMCA, whether it was Nintendo or not.
The Nintendo Switch – SUYU emulator page ended up being destroyed by GitLab due to DMCA takedown reasons.
Nintendo itself has not said anything at all regarding the SUYU case, which is currently still online on GitHub. SUYU has also opened a “new house” to prevent situations like this from happening in the future. What do you think?
