This month the narrative adventure “As Dusk Falls” was released for the PlayStation platforms. Anyone who has a valid PlayStation Plus Extra subscription can now try out the title for an hour.
PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers are provided with trial versions at regular intervals. These enable you to play selected titles extensively before purchasing.
Like a look into the PlayStation Store reveals, the next demo of this kind is now available for download. This time, fans of story-driven adventures will get their money's worth and can play the newly released “As Dusk Falls” over a period of one hour without any restrictions.
This should be enough to complete the first chapter and get an idea of what “As Dusk Falls” offers in terms of gameplay. If you decide to buy the full version, you can of course transfer your progress from the trial and continue playing the game seamlessly.
A collaborative narrative experience
The developers of Interior/Night describe “As Dusk Falls” as an interactive drama that can be assigned to the crime fiction genre. The story tells of the intertwined lives of two families and spans a period of several decades. The plot begins with a bank robbery in a small town in Arizona in 1998, which goes terribly wrong.
The story of “As Dusk Falls” explores themes of betrayal, sacrifice and resilience. One of the most important features of the narrative adventure is the fact that you can actively influence the further course of the story with your decisions – either alone or with a total of up to eight players.
“Thanks to the simple controls, all players can play the game using a controller or the As Dusk Falls companion app and vote with or against up to 7 friends locally, online or a mix of the two,” says the adventure’s co-op.
Exclusive features for the PS5
On the PS5, the developers make use of the console's exclusive features and integrate the DualSense and its functions into the gameplay. While the haptic feedback provides an immersive experience, the support of the touchpad makes the controls a little more straightforward.
Also new are the acoustic cues that describe each action and the locations in detail if necessary. “As Dusk Falls” has been well received by the PlayStation community and has an average rating of 4.55 stars in the PlayStation Store.
The Metascore The Xbox version, which is more representative due to the numerous reviews, is 77 points.
