The New Zealand studio Grinding Gear Games, as part of a live broadcast held on the night of March 22, showed new gameplay of the shareware role-playing action game Path of Exile 2 and announced the postponement of beta testing of the game.
Let's remember that since last summer, the developers of Path of Exile 2 planned to release the beta version on June 7, 2024. Testing was supposed to last several months and include the entire game.
As it became known, Grinding Gear Games can not get in time polish Path of Exile 2 by the deadline, so the “beta” will start only by the end of 2024, and the “alpha” is now scheduled for June.
Path of Exile 2 director Jonathan Rogers explained in an interview with PCGamesN that elements of the first two acts were ready five or six years ago, and the studio underestimated the amount of work needed to bring them up to modern standards.
“If I don't think the game is good, then I don't see the point in getting feedback on it – I want feedback when I think the game is finished. Otherwise, people will just say what we already know,” Rogers said.
The authors showed a trailer for a ranger and 14 minutes of gameplay for her: characters of this class (the most dexterous in the entire game) will be able to move while shooting, generate poisonous clouds and a hail of arrows, and also ride a roa.
Path of Exile 2 is being created for Steam (PC and Mac), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. They promise a six-act campaign, 600 monsters, 100 bosses, 240 active skills, 36 ascension classes, co-op for six and translation into Russian.
