Publisher Capcom has not yet announced a new game in the Resident Evil series, but it is no secret that work is underway on it. A well-known gaming insider for Capcom projects under the nickname Dusk Golem (AestheticGamer) said that he became aware of the expected horror.
The insider claims that Resident Evil 9 is being created based on new RE Engine technologies. The engine was modified for the release of Dragon's Dogma 2, an open-world game. As Dusk Golem says, “two other games based on the same technology are Resident Evil 9 and Monster Hunter Wilds.” The insider also added that the presence of an open world does not imply a radical departure from the “DNA of the series.” According to him, Dragon's Dogma 2 has retained the authentic style of the first part, and Monster Hunter and Resident Evil, despite the open world, will remain “games with the DNA of their franchises.”
Earlier, insider Dusk Golem said that the target year for the release of Resident Evil 9 is 2025, and the project could be presented as early as 2024. He voiced this information in the summer of 2023, after which no clarifications were received from him.
Let us remind you that Monster Hunter Wilds was presented at the end of 2023. The game is planned to be released in 2025, and more details will be revealed about it in the coming months.
