Last August, Baldur's Gate 3 was released on PC, in September it reached Playstation 5, and in December it came out on Xbox Series X | S. The project has collected a huge number of awards, but the developers do not share exact sales figures. However, from time to time, information appears that allows us to understand the scale of Larian's success.
In February of this year, Larian's Michael Dawes said that Baldur's Gate 3 had already sold “more than 10 million copies.” It appears that this figure may be closer to 15 million.
In an interview with GameSpot, Larian head Sven Vincke said that currently sales of Baldur's Gate 3 are almost 2 times higher than the success of Divinity: Original Sin 2. It is unknown how many copies of Divinity: Original Sin 2 were sold, but Sven Vincke previously said in an interview with Eurogamer , that “sales of Divinity: Original Sin 2 are 3 times higher than the first part.” As for sales of the first part, we know about the figure of 2.5 million copies sold, which Larian announced at GDC 2019 (after the release of the second part of Divinity).
Thus, if we do the math, we can conclude that sales of Baldur's Gate 3 are already around 15 million copies.
Recently it became known that Larian studio decided not to release DLC for Baldur's Gate 3, despite the huge success of the project.
