Perhaps the rocket will take off in May.
SpaceX engineers started installing The fourth prototype of the Starship launch vehicle arrives on the launch pad. Photos from the cosmodrome are published by the SpaceX account on X/Twitter.
In the second photo you can see several more Starship prototypes. Now SpaceX is assembling prototypes faster than it can launch them, so the company has a stockpile of rockets and first stages.
After installation on the launch pad, the rocket will undergo several tests, then its first stage will be subjected to similar tests. After this, both stages will be combined and prepared for launch – all that remains is to refuel the rocket.
SpaceX expects to conduct the fourth test launch of Starship before the end of May 2024. The exact timing depends on the US Federal Aviation Administration, which is investigating the third launch.
All previous Starship launches were partially successful and resulted in the loss of rockets. During the third launch, Starship was able to reach orbit, but was lost during reentry.
Theoretically, Starship can launch up to 150 tons of cargo into low Earth orbit. The rocket is planned to be used during NASA lunar missions.
