After Fitbit was officially acquired by Google in 2021, the brand went through several major changes. Starting with the name Fitbit by Google in 2022 before announcing the termination of business in many countries. Including Thailand in 2023 and recently Google has rebranded again using the name Google Fitbit with a new logo.
Last week, the fitbit.com website received an update. Previously used the polka dot arrow logo and the fitbit name in lowercase letters. Changed to a letter logo with the Google Fitbit name using a capital F and Google Sans font. Now the Google Store page has also adjusted the device category from Watches to Watches & Trackers to include health tracking products.
There is information that Google plans to move Fitbit's online store to a single Google Store. Along with internal restructuring, the hardware development teams of Pixel, Nest, and Fitbit will work together as one team. Additionally, Fitbit's co-founder and senior executives resigned from Google earlier this year.
This rebrand should help create awareness among the general public that Fitbit is now fully owned by Google. Although there are no details yet on whether this will affect the application or not. But doing so lays the groundwork for Google's future product development and marketing under the Fitbit brand.
