After creating the fantastic Bioshock series, Ken Levine's decision to shut down Irrational Games and then create a new studio – Ghost Story Games in the name of building a smaller team again, certainly raised big question marks. But fortunately, he continued his career. The mystery about the newest project was finally opened with the introduction of JUDAS some time ago through short gameplay which immediately reminded many gamers of Bioshock. By still making the story the main attraction, JUDAS turns out to have a quite unique system.
Ken Levine and Ghost Story Games finally showed off JUDAS gameplay to several media and influencers, including Geoff Keighley who described the experience he had. You will play as the female character who appeared in the trailer named JUDAS, who now lives on a space ship the size of a city called the Mayflower. There are no plot details, but JUDAS will be “accompanied” by three other main characters – Tom, Nefertiti, and Hope, each of whom has their own agenda.
With a system of three factions represented by three characters, the JUDAS story will continue to change, a la the Nemesis System from Shadow of Mordor.
Comparing it to the Nemesis System from Shadow of Mordor, Geoff Keighley said that these three characters who can be called “factions” will consistently communicate, interact and respond to the choices you make, which incidentally usually lean towards other characters. Not only do they continue to adapt, these characters can even try to sabotage your game to make it more difficult if you don't choose their agenda. Ken reportedly has the ambition to make each player's playthrough feel unique. Even those of you who want to play it again and again might find something new.
Various branches of this narrative are also confirmed to not use generative AI technology at all. There is no definite information on when JUDAS will be available on the market. What do you think? Sounds interesting?
