Leaked shipping documents, so-called shipping documents, show that AMD is currently shipping mobile CPUs from the Ryzen 9055 series (“Fire Range”) and APUs from the Ryzen 9050 series (“Strix Point”), each of which will be based on Zen 5, between locations sent. Both chips are intended as a solution for the mobile segment and are expected to be launched later this year. The documents, which come from customs authorities, reveal OPN codes, which are also already listed in AMD's product list (PDF), TDP specifications and model classifications.
Source: nbd.ltd In addition to the codenames “Fire Range” aka Ryzen 9055 and “Strix” aka “Strix Point” aka Ryzen 9050, which as expected are listed with a TDP of 55 watts and 28 watts, new desktop CPUs are also included 170 watts listed. This could possibly be “Granite Ridge” alias Ryzen 9000, but without a corresponding codename this is more speculation than knowledge. Based on their specifications, “Fire Range” and “Strix Point” can be clearly and unmistakably assigned to their predecessors.
When does Zen 5 start?
It is currently expected that the Zen 5 architecture will celebrate its premiere in the second quarter of 2024 in the server processors of the Epyc 9005 series (“Turin”) and from the second half of the year in the desktop processors (“Granite Ridge”) as well as the first APUs (“Strix Point”) are used. Users will probably have to wait a little longer for “Strix Halo” and “Fire Range”.
AMD: Zen 5 should make up to 160 processor cores and 320 threads possible
AMD's new microarchitectures Zen 5 (“Nirvana”) and Zen 5c (“Prometheus”), now confirmed for 2024, should enable up to 160 processor cores.
Since AMD itself has so far only commented on Ryzen 9050 (“Strix Point”) and has already confirmed the mobile APUs for this year, all other information remains (well-substantiated) rumors and should be viewed with a little caution.
