As part of a restructuring, Nintendo America is cutting 120 jobs before the launch of the Switch 2.
Nintendo America structured sea Kotaku journalist Ethan Gach is restructuring its testing department and creating new full-time positions, which also means the loss of 120 contract worker jobs. This comes ahead of the launch of the new Nintendo console Switch 2.
Sources at Kotaku claim this will result in a “massive downsizing” of the Washington-based testing department, while Nintendo is talking about the creation of many new full-time positions.
Cause should be one Slack in the testing department as no major first-party games are expected in the near future.
According to Nintendo, the restructuring is intended to be a better global integration into game development and one Alignment with interregional testing procedures make possible.
Nintendo has promised support and severance packages for the affected contract employees and thanks them for their contribution to the company.
