Electronic Arts has announced that Battlefield will be free to play for the next few days. You’ll be able to try out the shooter for a week between August 18th and 25th. This promotion is available on all platforms – Xbox Series X | S, Playstation 5 and PC. As part of the offer, 5 multiplayer modes will be available.
On August 18, “Battlefield 6” will also begin to be connected to the “Top Gun” series. Its main component will be fighter jets – the shooter will feature two-seat F/A-81F Super Specter and F-74A Seacat, which can be tested in a separate Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep mode. They’ll also be adding “Top Gun” style temporary events and rewards.
The game is currently in Season 4, and the August 18th update will introduce some additional season changes – the carrier strike mode will be significantly adjusted, the Crane Reef map will receive aircraft carriers, and the series’ classic Wake Island map will return in a redesigned form.
Note that Battlefield 6 has been available as a free trial on Xbox 5 since its October 2025 release. A free trial day is held in November 2025. Four more free trial events will be held in 2026, in February, March, May and June. It is expected that the game may be added to the Game Pass Ultimate subscription this fall, but the cost of EA Play will be eliminated.
