Korean studio Royal Crow has launched Waste The Fallen – a first-person shooter with evacuation and space horror elements. Players must explore the mysterious abyss area, fight strange creatures “Fallen” and hostile predators “Deviants”, extract valuable resources and try to get out alive. Attack is suitable for both solo play and squads of up to three players.
The main feature of the project is a softer approach to loss systems. The developers want to encourage curiosity and exploration, so death won’t completely reset your progress. Most possessions are stored in safes, and crafting allows you to quickly recover necessary equipment. Between raids, players will be able to develop their own shelters, improve their crafting stations and unlock new blueprints.
However, the horror atmosphere will still be an important part of the gameplay. In The Abyss, the character’s mental state gradually deteriorates, forcing him to listen more carefully to the sounds around him and decide whether to engage in another gunfight. The deeper you go, the more valuable the loot becomes—but so does the danger.
Collected resources can be used to develop special “bio-arms” that open up new abilities and opportunities for subsequent attacks. The Waste The Fallen closed beta will run on PC from September 4th to 8th. The game will be released on Steam.
