Take-Two, 2K and Hangar 13 have announced Mafia: Definitive Edition native to Xbox Series X S and Playstation 5. Players can expect 60 FPS and various technical improvements, but the author has not yet provided a specific list. The update will be distributed free to owners of the game on Xbox One and Playstation 4 platforms, but will have minor differences from the disc version.
Owners of any version of Mafia: Definitive Edition for Playstation 4 (physical or digital) can get the digital version for Playstation 5 for free through the Playstation Store. However, physical copies will not update on Xbox One. Developer in announcement emphasize respectivelyOnly the Xbox One digital version will be upgraded to Xbox Series X | S. The version on disk will not receive the upgrade.
The developer also stated that saves from the version of the game on Xbox One or Playstation 4 will not be transferred to the native version of Xbox Series X | S or Playstation 5. Meanwhile, the native version will be available on the digital store separately from the previous-generation version. That said, players will be able to continue using the version for Xbox One consoles on Xbox Series X | S if desired, with access to your saves, but there will be no technical improvements.
The release of the native version of “Mafia: Definitive Edition” for Xbox Series X|S will be held on August 14.
