Developers at Standing Stone Games have shared a roadmap for completing the legendary Angmar and Mordor servers in MMORPG The Lord of the Rings Online. According to the plan, the project will receive the latest major content patches in the fall and winter, including increasing the level cap to 115 and 130, as well as adding the Minas Morgul and Gundabad expansion packs.
The official servers will shut down in early 2027, after which players can transfer their characters to the standard game world for free until March 30. Considering that the Angmar and Mordor servers are set to open in late 2024, their three-year run cycles have ended, which traditionally leaves open the door for new themed worlds to be announced in the future.
What do you think about the temporary nature of legendary servers and the gradual unlocking of content in MMORPGs?
